Sarika FM 106.5
Background
Sarika FM began in October of 2008, after taking over the management of Star FM. Sarika FM features a wide variety of content, mainly split up into shows which run for an hour or more. Up-to-the-minute news reports are broadcast hourly. Show topics include youth and teens, women, traffic, requests, the environment, human rights, news and current affairs, employment, life and leisure, Western music, Khmer music, and more
Beginning of 2009, Sarika FM continued its broadcast with regular programming of news and educational radio programs. Today, Sarika FM is slowly accumulating its market share in the airwaves based on the participation of listeners in its radio programs. At the end of the first quarter of 2009, CCIM operated another radio station in Siem Reap province with a power of 5 kilowatt through a leased agreement for 12 hour airtime called FM 95.5. During the year, Sarika FM has a coverage area, by both stations, of 14 provinces out of 24 provinces and municipalities.
Sarika FM is the official station broadcasting the Radio Voice of Democracy (VOD) programs which broadcast fresh, fair, and independent news and information on current affairs in Cambodia, and provides the opportunity to participate in listener discussions through its interactive radio programs.
Sarika FM is an independent radio network managed by CCIM, Cambodian Center for Independent Media. As well as flippant shows about teen issues, travel, leisure, and motoring, we also broadcast fair and balanced independent news and current affairs shows, providing the people of Cambodia with a vital and accurate nonaligned view on the state of the nation. Without the support of companies and organizations, Sarika FM would not exist.
Sarika FM accepts advertsing spots from commercial companies and non-governmental organizations to earn an income to sustain its operation. It also allows some of its airtime to be sponsored by commercial organizations and NGOs for their-managed radio programs.
We are commited to the practice of internationally-accepted standards of media ethics in our broadcast of information.
